‘NIKK MAGER from POPSTARS THE RIVALS, from PHIXX to THE FIZZ’
Nikk Mager has carved out a remarkable path through British pop culture from his breakout on ‘Popstars The Rivals’, to chart success with the platinum‑selling boyband ‘Phixx’, to his current role as a powerhouse vocalist in ‘The Fizz’, the modern incarnation of Eurovision legends Bucks Fizz.
With four UK Top 20 hits already under his belt, Nikk is a seasoned performer with award‑winning vocal talent, Nikk continues to captivate audiences across the UK and beyond.
Nikk first found fame when Jane McDonald arrived at his school with a BBC camera crew to surprise him in front of his classmates with life‑changing news. Chosen from thousands of hopefuls, he was invited to perform on the prime time BBC talent show ‘Star For a Night’, where he delivered a heartfelt rendition of Cat Stevens’ “Father & Son”. It was the moment that set his musical journey in motion.
When ITV launched the search for contestants for their new reality series Popstars: The Rivals, Nikk Mager stepped forward and quickly became one of the standout performers. He sailed through the audition stages and secured his place in the live finals. Although Girls Aloud ultimately won the competition, Nikk joined forces with four fellow male finalists to form the boyband Phixx, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his pop career, and soon they were performing on Top Of The Pops with their first single “Hold On Me” peaking at #10 in the UK Singles chart.
Having worked with Duran Duran, Phixx released their second single “Wild Boys” which went straight to #12 in the singles chart. Their #1 album “Electrophonic Revolution!” received platinum status and was a #1 hit in South Africa and was followed by a sellout headlining tour of South Africa and meeting the family of Nelson Mandela at his home.
In 2024, Nikk was officially announced as one of the two new members of The Fizz, the group formed by original Bucks Fizz stars Cheryl Baker and Jay Aston. His addition marked a new era for the band, bringing fresh energy to classics like “Making Your Mind Up”, “The Land of Make Believe”, & “My Camera Never Lies”.
Nikk now performs with The Fizz at festivals, theatres, and major events across the UK.
