His first residency was at the infamous Part II Club in Nottingham, voted Europe’s most prestigious club three years in a row.  His blend of early 80’s Disco and Hi-NRG soon gave him a reputation as one of the UK’s leading Dance DJs.

Pete was headhunted to front what can best be described as the UK’s first super-club, the 2000 capacity Nottingham Astoria. Playing 6 hour sets on 4 decks to a buzzing audience most of whom had never experienced a mixed in set. Headlining at this venue led to Pete being asked to mix the top 20 album, The Best of Hi-NRG, the first of his many chart credits.

Pete moved on to become the resident DJ at Nottingham’s The Club, which later became Venus.  As always, his trend-setting ways made him one of the first to play such Chicago house classics as, ‘Love Can’t Turn Around’, along with imported vocal house, truly the start of the UK’s most famous funky dance scene, with fellow DJ’s Graham Park and Alistair Whitehead amongst the crowd.  Peter then went on to become resident at Kikis, Sheffield’s answer to the Hacienda as well as many more of the UK’s top super-clubs.

A chance meeting with American chanteuse Vicki Shepard, who’s US No. 1 ‘Somewhere’, became a huge UK dance hit, prompted Pete to take his first steps into record production.  He became known as “The Man with The Divas”, involving himself with Vicki, ex-Weather Girl Jeanie Tracy and Carol Leeming, negotiating the deal which led to the worldwide hit “Joy”.

Gaining his reputation within the industry he was approached by the then unknown Paul Masterson and the two were soon collaborating in the studio.  Paul’s articulate technical skills married to Pete’s knowledge of cutting-edge dance music led to a catalogue of credible tunes.  The duos chart hits include “Sex” featuring ‘Vicki Shepard’, and the notorious Ibiza anthem “Lets Whip It Up” (You Go Girl).  This became a worldwide dance best-seller, featuring on eight Ibiza compilations including ‘Brandon Block and Alex P’s Clockwork Orange’, and to this day remains a club classic.  The guys then followed this success with another worldwide chart topper ‘Work It Up and Wear It Out’ on BMG Records and which led to Peter touring Australia and the USA.

Paul moved on to become Yomanda, whilst Pete continued as The Sleazesisters, adding London’s Heaven resident DJ Paull Young.  A string of worldwide chart remixes and productions followed, including such massive tunes as Samantha Mumba’s ‘Gotta Tell U’, Steps’ ‘Deeper Shade of Blue’ and Anastacia’s ‘I’m Outta Love’ turning commercial chart records into storming dance-floor anthems with many artists performing their versions at live concert dates.

Pete has never turned his back on cutting edge dance and has astounded the clubbing fraternity under the cool and credible moniker The Starlet DJs.  His massive funky house club hit ‘Can’t Stop Dancin’’ received huge support from Radio Ones’ Judge Jules, Pete Tong and Dave Pearce alongside countless other radio stations.

The Starlet DJs also remixed the UK No. 1 single Meck’s ‘Thunder In My Heart’.  This remix was No. 1 on Cool Cuts and Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune.

Pete worked with “Katrina” (formerly of The Waves) on a remake of “Walking On Sunshine” for its’ 25^th anniversary andworked on a remix of Samantha Fox’s ‘Touch Me’ for her Sony released ‘Greatest Hits’ collection which has recently had a complete reproduction. Pete also set up a new project under the name ‘Pimp N Jam’ with the talented ‘James Hurr’ which meant co-writing with disco legend Viola Wills.  The first Pimp N Jam single ‘Feel You Feelin’ Me’ featuring the sensational vocals of Norma Lewis reached No. 2 in the UK club charts, remaining there for a staggering 10 weeks.  Pete has been working on brand new versions of ‘Let’s Whip It Up’ and a stunning cover of ‘Brown Girl In The Ring’ feat. ‘Patsy Griffith’ on ‘Energise Records’. A collaboration with ‘Paul Masterson’ and ‘Fatboy Slim’ will also see a future re-release of the ‘US Number One’ ‘Ghetto Girl’.

A new Sleazesisters album ‘Revolution, was released in June 2011 and featured most of Pete’s dance hits.  Based on Pete’s ever popular mixed dance night Revolution which he started at The Astoria, Nottingham in 1984, these party nights continue worldwide to this day.  Pete’s continued love of live performances still sees him DJ-ing and PA-ing all over the UK.  He has graced the stage and decks at numerous BBC Radio One Dance Parties, Mardi Gras Events (including Gran Canaria and Benidorm), with international appearances in the USA, Dubai, the Far East, Australia and regular invitations to headline major events in Ibiza.

Pete has made many appearances over the years on Radio 1 which included festival-reporting for Dave Pearce’s Dance Anthems and has contributed regular guest mixes for various radio stations around the world. This also included his own radio show on Sheffield Live 93.2fm.

Time off isn’t a mantra that Pete subscribes to and you’re more likely to catch him hanging out with his DJ friends Judge Jules, Dave Pearce and his long-time idol Roger Sanchez.  You may also find him propping up the bar at his favourite haunt, Café Mambo, with a bottle of champagne and more ice than P Diddy.

Having recreantly teamed up with Yomanda (Paul Masterson), they’ve worked on a brand-new single ‘Music Pumpin’ featuring Hed Kandi vocalist Soraya Vivian. A&R’d by Simon Britton (guilty as charged for ‘creating a banger’) with Lee Rose it was released by DeeVu Records on 24 July 2020 charting at no 2 in the USA and no 8 on the UK club charts. Due for a re-release soon as sadly it didn’t get club play because of Covid.

Pete is one of the most complete packages out there, combining Performance (on many of his own tracks), Remixing, Producing and Presenting (he KNOWS how to use a microphone!) and is without a doubt one of the most respected, loved and in demand DJs on offer.
